Advertising Terms and Conditions
These terms apply to every request and every campaign in which a business has a video shown in CoasterTycoon. They are separate from the terms of use for players.
1. Who are we?
CoasterTycoon (coastertycoon.com) is a game operated by Netron ICT, Virulyweg 43-b, 7602 RG Almelo, Chamber of Commerce number 93536399. In these terms, “we” means “Netron ICT”, and “the advertiser” means the business submitting the request. You submit a request on behalf of a business or as a business owner, not as a consumer.
2. Request and agreement
The order form at /adverteren/start is a request. An agreement is formed only after we have approved the video and details and the advertiser has then paid the invoice. The advertiser receives a personal link to their campaign page and is responsible for keeping it safe.
3. Prices
- All prices are in euros and exclude VAT. We add 21% VAT to the amount unless the law provides otherwise.
- When submitting a request, the advertiser chooses when the player can skip the video. Skipping after 15 seconds costs €20.00 per 1,000 views; skipping after 25 seconds costs €30.00 per 1,000 views.
- Views are purchased in lots of 1,000, from 1,000 up to and including 100,000 per request.
- The rate depends on the selected skip time, not on the length of the video. The amount shown on the form is the amount on the invoice.
4. Review and rejection
We review every video and request before a campaign runs. We may reject a request, for example if the video or website does not meet the content rules, and may pause or stop a running campaign if it turns out that the video or website does not comply with these terms. If we reject a request, we give the reason on the campaign page. Rejected requests are free of charge.
5. Content rules
Many players are children, and we don’t know their ages. The advertiser therefore cannot choose an age group and may only show content suitable for everyone. The following are not allowed:
- content intended for adults aged 18 and over, or that is unsuitable for children;
- alcohol, gambling and casinos, tobacco and vapes, dating services, crypto and investing, or weight-loss products;
- political or religious messages;
- anything that could frighten children, or that urges them to buy or to ask their parents to buy through a coercive message;
- misleading or incorrect claims, or content that violates the law, the Dutch Advertising Code or the Dutch Advertising Code for Children and Young People;
- a video in which the business is not clearly identifiable as the advertiser.
6. Advertiser’s responsibility
The advertiser is responsible for the video, the website opened by the button and everything they contain. The advertiser warrants that they hold all rights to the images, audio, music, brands and people in the video, and indemnifies Netron ICT against related third-party claims. The video must be an MP4 file with H.264 video, between 10 and 60 seconds long, and no larger than 30 MB. The link must start with https://.
For every view, we clearly state that the video is an advert and identify the business it is on behalf of. The advertiser must not attempt to bypass this notice.
7. How we deliver views
- The video only appears in places in the game where a player chooses to watch a video in return for a reward. It is never required and never shown automatically. We do not show the video on the website’s pages.
- A view counts once the player has watched the video up to the skip time chosen by the advertiser (15 or 25 seconds). If the video is shorter than that time, the view counts at the end. Our server checks this based on the elapsed time. We cannot tell whether the player is looking at the screen at that moment. From that point, the player receives their reward and may skip; a view counted at that point is a delivered view, even if the player then skips. If the player closes the video earlier, it does not count.
- Skipping only closes the video. The advertiser’s website opens only if the player chooses to tap “Visit website”.
- The same player sees the same advert no more than 10 times per day.
- We target by the game’s language and, if selected by the advertiser, the player’s country. We estimate the country from the player’s connection on each visit; this is an estimate and may be inaccurate.
- There is no fixed end date. The campaign runs until all purchased views have been shown. We show an estimated campaign duration on the campaign page. This is an estimate based on the recent number of videos players choose to watch, not a promise. We are not required to deliver a certain number of views per day or week.
- We will never deliver more views than were purchased, except for a small difference caused by views happening at the same time.
8. Payment
After approval, the advertiser receives an invoice. The payment period is 14 days. The campaign starts once we have received payment. Online payment with iDEAL will be available later; until then, the advertiser pays by bank transfer. If the invoice is not paid on time, we may cancel the request.
9. Undelivered views
If not all purchased views have been delivered when a campaign ends (for example, because the advertiser requests it or because we stop the campaign), then, at the advertiser’s request, we will refund the amount for the undelivered views pro rata, excluding VAT, or save those views for a future campaign by the same advertiser. Delivered views will not be refunded.
10. Figures
The advertiser can see the number of views on their campaign page (counted at the skip point), how many were watched to the end, and the number of clicks, broken down by day and country. Our figures are proof of delivery. We count clicks through our server. The advertiser can also see visits in their own analytics using the utm_source=coastertycoon, utm_medium=video and utm_campaign labels in the address. A small difference between our clicks and the visits reported by the advertiser is normal.
11. Liability
We aim to keep the game free from disruptions, but cannot guarantee this. Our liability for damages is limited to the amount the advertiser paid for the relevant campaign (excluding VAT), unless there is intent or gross negligence. We are not liable for consequential losses, such as lost revenue.
12. Data
The privacy statement explains how we use advertiser data and view data. We never share player data with an advertiser.
13. Changes and applicable law
We may change these terms; the terms in force when a request was submitted continue to apply to an ongoing campaign. These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes will be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands.
