Advertise in CoasterTycoon

Show a short video about your business to CoasterTycoon players. Buy directly through our platform, with no intermediary or media-buying contracts: upload your video and choose the number of views. You buy a fixed number of views; at your request, we’ll either refund any that haven’t been shown or save them for you (see the terms and conditions).

Why advertise with us?

• Direct. No agency or ad network in between. Manage everything yourself on our platform, and you can simply email us.
• Shown by choice. Players only see your video if they choose to watch it in return for an in-game reward. Nobody is interrupted, and a view only counts once the player has watched your video up to the point where they can skip it: you choose 15 or 25 seconds.
• Clear pricing. A fixed rate per 1,000 views, depending on when the player can skip the video. No bidding and no minimum budget of hundreds of euros.
• You can see what you get. On your personal campaign page, track views, completed views, clicks and the estimated campaign duration, broken down by day and country.

Where will players see your video?

CoasterTycoon is a free game that never forces ads on players. Your video appears in exactly two places, and only when a player chooses to tap:

• Get it free by watching a video. A player moves a ride, stall or decoration and chooses to pay for that action with a video instead of gems.
• Double your earnings by watching a video. After being away for a while, a player can double their earnings by watching a video.

So your video never appears when the game starts, during play or as a requirement. It plays full-screen on a phone or computer, with sound, and clearly displays the text Advertisement, on behalf of your business and a Visit website button. Until the skip point, a countdown is shown (“7 seconds left”); after that, the close button changes to Skip. One tap closes the video without opening your website.

Pricing

Upload a video between 10 and 60 seconds long and choose when the player can skip it. Views are sold in lots of 1,000, from 1,000 to 100,000 views per campaign. All prices are exclusive of VAT (21% will be added).

For example: 5,000 views with skipping after 15 seconds cost €100.00 excl. VAT (€121.00 incl. 21% VAT). The price depends on your choice, not on the length of your video. If your video is shorter than the selected skip point, it will be shown in full and the view will count at the end. The order form shows you the cost straight away. We don’t accept videos shorter than 10 seconds or longer than 60 seconds.

What counts as a view?

A view counts once the player has watched your video up to the skip point you selected (15 or 25 seconds; for a shorter video, the end). Our server checks this based on the elapsed time. We can’t tell whether the player is looking at the screen at that moment. From that point on, the player receives their reward and can skip with one tap or watch the rest of the video; either way, it counts as a delivered view. If a player closes the video before that point, it doesn’t count and they don’t receive a reward. Your campaign page shows how many views were watched to the end. The same player sees the same advert no more than 10 times per day, so your reach is spread across many players. Your campaign stops automatically once it reaches the number of views you bought.

Who can you reach?

• Language. Choose the language players use to play. CoasterTycoon is currently available in Dutch. English, German and French are coming soon; you’ll be able to choose those languages too.
• Country (optional). The Netherlands, Belgium or both. We determine a player’s country from their connection each time they visit; we don’t store it with their player data.
• No age targeting. You can’t choose an age group. Many players are young, and we don’t know their ages, so we only accept videos suitable for everyone (see the rules below).

Clicks to your website

Your video includes a Visit website button. It opens the website you provide in a new tab, through our server so we can count the click. We add utm_source=coastertycoon, utm_medium=video and a campaign name to the address, so you can also see the visits in your own analytics. The player keeps their reward even if they click. Your link must start with https://.

What requirements must your video meet?

We review every video before it runs. Many children play our game, so the rules are strict:

• An MP4 file with H.264 video, between 10 and 60 seconds long, and no larger than 30 MB.
• No content for adults aged 18 and over; no alcohol, gambling or casinos, tobacco or vapes, dating services, crypto or investing, weight-loss products, political or religious messages, or anything that frightens children.
• Your business name must be clearly recognisable, and you must have the rights to everything in the video (images, music and people).
• We may reject a video or stop a campaign that is already running if it doesn’t meet the rules. Rejected requests are free of charge.

What can you see as an advertiser?

After you submit your request, you’ll receive a personal link to your campaign page. It shows your campaign status (and the reason if it was rejected), the number of views purchased, shown and remaining, how many were watched to the end, the number of clicks and click-through rate, views and clicks by day and country, and the estimated time remaining. You don’t need to sign in. Keep the link safe, because anyone who has it can see the figures.

How do you pay?

1. Fill in the form and upload your video. You’ll see the cost straight away.
2. We review your video and details. If approved, you’ll receive an invoice.
3. Pay the invoice. Online payment with iDEAL is coming; until then, you can pay by bank transfer.
4. Your campaign starts once we’ve received your payment. There is no fixed end date: it runs until all the views you bought have been shown. The duration depends on the number of players; your campaign page shows an estimate.
