Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we get most often. Can’t find your question here? Check the game guide or email [email protected].

Does CoasterTycoon cost money?

No. You can play for free in your browser, without downloading anything. You never have to pay to build something or make progress. You earn the things you need in the game through your park.

Do I need to create an account to play?

No. Select Play for free to start right away as a guest. We keep a guest park for seven days after you last played. To keep your park for longer, create an account with your email address and a password. Use the Save your park button in the menu.

How do I save my park?

Your park is saved automatically while you play. Without an account, it is saved for seven days; with an account, it remains available for as long as your account exists. You don’t need to submit anything yourself: just pick up where you left off when you return.

Can I play on my phone and on my computer?

Yes, with an account. Your park is online, so you can sign in on another device and continue where you left off. Don’t play on two devices at the same time: the game will disconnect one of them.

Can I play without an internet connection?

No. Your park is online, so you need an internet connection to play. Your park does keep earning while you’re away, for up to a few hours. When you return, the Welcome back window shows you what you earned.

The game is slow on my phone. What can I do?

Turn on Low quality in the menu to make the game run faster. Also close other tabs and apps that use a lot of memory, and make sure your browser is up to date. Low quality is already on by default on phones.

Can I install the game as an app?

Yes. It will then open like an app, without an address bar. On an Android phone, open the Chrome menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen. On an iPhone or iPad, tap Share in Safari, then Add to Home Screen. You can then launch CoasterTycoon from the icon on your Home Screen. You can also play without installing it: choose Full screen in the game menu.

What are gems?

Gems are the game’s second currency. You can earn them for free through a starting bonus, a daily reward, certain goals and weekly events. Use them to buy special stalls and move things around in your park. Gems are a virtual part of the game and have no value outside it.

Why won’t my guest go on a ride?

First, check that the queue connects to a path and to the ride entrance. Is the ride open? A coaster must first pass a test run and then be set to Open. Otherwise, tap a guest: their thought bubble often tells you what’s wrong, such as a queue that is too long or a ticket that is too expensive.

My test run failed. What should I do?

The track may not form a complete circuit, or the train may not have enough speed at a certain point, for example before a loop. The window tells you where the problem is. Start by building a climb followed by a steep drop to build up speed, then add the loops. Or use Complete to let the game find a route.

How do I start over?

Open the menu and choose Start over. You can clear your park (keeping your money, land and level), start again while keeping your land, or start completely from scratch. You always keep your park name, gems and exclusive items. The game will always ask you to confirm.

I’ve forgotten my password. What should I do?

CoasterTycoon does not send emails automatically. Email [email protected] from the email address linked to your account, and you’ll receive a new password in a separate email.

How does cheating and fair play work?

When your game is saved, it checks whether your money and counters match the amount of time you’ve played. If something doesn’t add up, it will be reviewed. Until the review is complete, you won’t appear on leaderboards or receive event rewards. If you play fairly, you won’t notice this check.

Can I have my account and data deleted?

Yes. Email [email protected] from the email address linked to your account. We’ll delete your account, park, gems and play time. The privacy statement explains what we keep and why.

Are there ads and cookies?

The game won’t interrupt you with ads. It uses one functional cookie to sign you in. There are currently no video ads in the game. If optional videos are ever added, watching them will always be your choice, and visitors in the EU will see a consent message from Google. For details, see the privacy statement.
